About Policymage
Policymage is a free, unbiased ACA Marketplace health insurance comparison platform. Data sourced directly from federal and state exchanges — no broker fees, no recommendations, no account required.
Our Mission
Choosing a health insurance plan is one of the highest-stakes financial decisions Americans make every year — yet most comparison tools are operated by licensed brokers who earn commissions on the plans they recommend. That creates a conflict of interest: the "best" plan shown to you may simply be the most lucrative one for the broker.
Policymage exists to remove that bias. We display every plan available in your area using the same authoritative data sources as the official federal marketplace, ranked only by the criteria you choose — premium, deductible, network type, quality rating, or out-of-pocket cost. We do not earn commissions. We do not recommend specific plans. We show you the data and let you decide.
Our Mission
To make health insurance plan data accessible and understandable for every American — without bias or recommendations.
Transparency
We display plans based on your input. We never rank, recommend, or favor any plan or insurer. No paid placements.
Who We Serve
Individuals and families across all 50 US states and Washington DC who want to compare ACA Marketplace plans before enrolling.
Our Data
Sourced directly from the CMS Healthcare.gov Marketplace API and HealthSherpa — the same data powering the official federal exchange.
How We Build
An independent team of software engineers and health policy researchers. Open about our methods — see our methodology page for full details.
How Often We Update
Plan data refreshes every 24 hours via Incremental Static Regeneration. Personalized queries hit live federal APIs in real time.
Privacy First
We never sell user data. Household details stay in your browser session — they are not stored on our servers in identifiable form.
Always Free
No subscription, no paywall, no account required. We do not monetize through plan referrals or commissions.
Where Our Data Comes From
Plan availability, premiums, deductibles, networks, formularies, and quality ratings are pulled from two authoritative sources, both updated daily:
- CMS Healthcare.gov Marketplace API — The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services operates the federal exchange at HealthCare.gov. Their public API (developer.cms.gov/marketplace-api) is the same data source the official marketplace uses. Covers about 30 states.
- HealthSherpa API — For the 20 states that operate their own exchanges (California, New York, Washington, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and others), we use the HealthSherpa API to retrieve equivalent plan data.
- HHS Federal Poverty Level Guidelines — Subsidy calculations use the official FPL tables published annually by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
- IRS Publication 969 — HSA and HDHP limits are sourced from the annually published IRS rules.
For a full breakdown of how we calculate premium estimates, APTC subsidies, and CSR eligibility, see our data methodology page.
Who Builds Policymage
Policymage is built by an independent team of software engineers and health policy researchers. We are not affiliated with any insurance carrier, broker, or government agency. We have no financial relationship with the plans displayed on this site. The platform is funded independently and operates without advertising, affiliate referrals, or paid plan placements.
Important Notice
Policymage is not a licensed insurance broker, agent, or advisor. We do not sell insurance policies or provide personalized recommendations. Plans are displayed based on user input only. For enrollment, users are directed to official marketplace websites (HealthCare.gov or the appropriate state-based exchange). Always consult a licensed insurance professional for personalized advice, and verify final plan details on the official marketplace before enrolling.
Questions, feedback, or corrections?
We take data accuracy seriously. If you spot something wrong — a premium that looks off, a plan that should appear but does not, a benefit description that is unclear — please let us know.
