About Policymage
A free, independent health plan finder and ACA subsidy calculator built on official CMS Marketplace data. No broker commissions. No plan recommendations. No account required.
Our Mission
Picking a health plan is one of the biggest money decisions you make each year. Most comparison sites are run by brokers or agencies, and they get paid when you sign up for certain plans. We work differently. We take no commissions, and we never push a plan.
We show every plan sold in your area, using the same official data as the federal Marketplace. You choose how to rank them: by premium, deductible, network type, quality rating, or out-of-pocket cost. We earn no commissions. We never name a best plan. We show the data and you decide.
Why Trust Policymage?
We believe consumers should be able to compare Marketplace health insurance plans without hidden incentives. Our platform is built around official public data rather than paid promotions. Every plan shown is based on the information you enter and the official data available for your location. We do not accept payments from insurers to promote or prioritize their plans.
Policymage is funded independently and does not receive commissions from insurance companies or payments to prioritize particular plans. We have no financial relationship with any insurer shown on this platform.
Our Principles in Practice
Mission
Make health insurance plan data accessible and understandable for every American, without bias, commissions, or recommendations.
Transparency
Plans are displayed based only on your input. No paid placements. No ranking adjustments. No insurer favoritism.
Who We Serve
Individuals and families across all 50 US states and Washington, D.C. comparing ACA Marketplace plans before enrolling.
Our Data
Straight from HealthCare.gov and state exchanges — the same data the official Marketplace runs on.
How We Build
We pair software, health policy know-how, and Marketplace data to make plan details easier to read.
How Often We Update
Plan data refreshes every 24 hours via Incremental Static Regeneration. Personalized queries hit live federal APIs in real time.
Privacy First
We never sell user data. Your household details stay in your browser session and are not stored on our servers in identifiable form.
Always Free
No subscription, no paywall, no account required. We do not monetize through plan referrals, commissions, or lead sales.
Our Expertise
Our team works across software, health policy, and Marketplace data. We read the plan files published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the rate filings insurers submit, and the federal rules behind them. That is how we keep plan details right and current.
No insurer, broker, or government agency owns or funds us. A small independent team builds and runs the site. Our only job is to help you weigh your Marketplace options, with no one paying us to steer you.
How We Maintain Accuracy
We automatically validate Marketplace data during every update cycle, monitor changes to plan information, and investigate user-reported discrepancies. If errors are identified, corrections are made as soon as updated official data becomes available.
Every premium estimate considers household size, county, ages, tobacco status (where applicable), and current Marketplace rules. Eligibility for premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions is calculated using current federal guidelines and official plan data.
Where Our Data Comes From
Plan availability, premiums, deductibles, networks, formularies, and quality ratings are pulled from authoritative official sources, updated daily:
- HealthCare.gov (operated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) We retrieve live data representing the same plans, premiums, and subsidies available through the federal Marketplace. healthcare.gov. Covers approximately 30 states.
- State-Based Exchanges: For the 20 states that operate their own exchanges (California, New York, Washington, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and others), we retrieve equivalent official plan data.
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS): Subsidy calculations use the official Federal Poverty Level (FPL) guidelines published annually by HHS.
- Internal Revenue Service (IRS): HSA and HDHP contribution limits are sourced from annually published IRS guidance including IRS Publication 969.
For a full breakdown of how we calculate premium estimates, APTC subsidies, and CSR eligibility, see our data methodology page.
